MatchPoint 4.4.0 / 5.4.0, MatchPoint Snow 1.4.0 / 2.4.0, Newsroom and Publishing 1.13.0 / 2.13.0 released

Date: 27. Oct 2017

New versions of MatchPoint, MatchPoint Snow, Newsroom and Publishing have been released. This blog post offers an overview of the key features and fixes introduced with MatchPoint 4.4.0 / 5.4.0, MatchPoint Snow 1.4.0 / 2.4.0 and the snowflakes Newsroom and Publishing 1.13.0 / 2.13.0.

MatchPoint

Additional Error Handlers for workflow actions.

This October release brings a new useful MatchPoint feature. You can now decide what happens if an action from a workflow fails. There are three options:

  • Continue on error
  • Go to workflow state on error
  • Retry on error.

These error handlers can be added on any action and are compatible with your current workflows. You can also use the Continue on error and Retry on error handlers on the actions added on your MP forms as well.

Bug fixes:

  • "Workflow History" form used to show date/times as UTC instead of local time
  • Data Grid Web Part: The entire page was refreshed when clicking on specific actions in the popup menu instead of refreshing just the Web Part.
  • The Password Editor control was not working properly when changing password (5.4.0 version)
  • The RankingModelChoiceProvider assumed elevated privileges on SSA, now if you don't have the permissions you are still able to set the ranking model manually.
  • SearchDataProvider: AllowComplexQueries had a wrong description
  • WorkflowHistoryForm could show the history of workflows for which you were not an administrator

MatchPoint Snow

New portal widget for the latest pictures

We created a new widget for the Portal page that displays a grid of up to 6 of the latest pictures. The more button in the bottom right corner takes you to the Pictures Tab in the Content section.

Reset logo functionality

Starting with this release you can remove the custom logo for a workspace and revert to the default one. This can be done with the click of a button from the Change the logo page inside a workspace.

Search Based Aggregation for Workspaces - extended support for other snowflakes

Custom snowflakes can now configure their own Workspace aggregation mode file replacement. The Set-MPSWorkspaceAggregation cmdlet has a new SnowflakeId parameter so that you can specify for which snowflake you want to change the workspace aggregation mode.

Top bar and advanced search full text condition are now unified

The top bar search and the Advanced Search Page are now synchronized to return similar results when searching for a basic text. The wildcard '*' added by default in the top bar search has been removed, this way the users can decide themselves if they want to use it or not.

Other changes:

  • Make SharedFolderSynchonizer and PermissionSynchronizer public
  • SearchDataProviders are now set to have AllowComplexQueries set to false by default
  • WorkspaceSharedFolder WSP is of deployment type ApplicationServer

Bug fixes:

  • In the My work section from the Portal page there were incorrect conditions for My latest documents and My tasks
  • On the Content page the tabs would incorrectly change their height on resize
  • When creating a workspace, an error for SetLogoItemPermissions would come up in the logs
  • The Search text box for Last Modified Documents in the portal page was too long
  • Set-MPSWorkspaceAggregation - couldn't be run after an update to go back to search mode
  • WorkspaceSharedFolder: the Timer Job processed each workspace only once.

Newsroom Snowflake

Top bar search Newsroom section now goes through a SearchDataProvider

To unify the Top bar search even more, we changed the News section to use a SearchDataProvider. This way you can search through more than just the Title of the News. We adjusted the conditions as well, you can find even archived news, since you were able to do this in the Advanced Search Page. It's more consistent now.

We have enabled Search Workspace Aggregation Mode for this snowflake

When there are more than 5000 workspaces in your workspace list, you can now enable Search based workspace aggregation mode for the Newsroom snowflake as well. You can do this by using the Set-MPSWorkspaceAggregation cmdlet. To support this we created configuration files with "_Search" as a suffix to their name, which are replacing the original files when you run the command with mode Search. In order to learn how to work with this cmdlet, you can find instructions in the MatchPoint Snow documentation and more specific info in the Newsroom Snowflake Installation Guide.

Updated the Change Logo feature to use the default MatchPoint control

For a better and more unified user experience, when changing the logo for a Newsroom, you will now use the default MatchPoint control.

Added constants for the Welcome page layouts in the Expression Engine

You no longer need to remember and type the relative URL to the Welcome page layout you want to set. You can use the constants from the News expression: News.ClassicAspxUrl, News.NewsAdvancedAspxUrl, News.NewsBasicAspxUrl.

Other changes:

  • Snowflake Installation: Added support for installation on environments with multiple Search Service Applications

Bug fixes:

  • Newsroom Workspace Type was missing in the Timeline filter
  • Newsroom Workspace tag was visible to everyone, now it's visible only to the people who have access to the workspace.
  • Removed the empty space between news irregular grid and the rest of the webparts
  • Emails sent from Acknowledgement reports -> Send E-Mail button contained a relative link to the news item instead of an absolute one.
  • Related links html affected the entire page
