Overview

MatchPoint Snow is a digital workplace solution for SharePoint 2016. It unites collaboration, intranet and social functionality in one single platform adapted to enterprise requirements. Clean lines and touch-friendly controls characterize the MatchPoint Snow user interface. Unlike other solutions, its entire design has been broken down and implemented using MatchPoint components, which means it is configurable and can be adapted to the individual needs of your organization. The underlying functionality is 100% based on the two standard products SharePoint and MatchPoint.

MatchPoint Snow provides an information-centric portal with five perspectives on personalized content.

  • The portal shows information related to the current user such as daily work or announcements
  • The timeline aggregates all activities around your area and shows them in chronological order. It is based on the SharePoint social features
  • The workspace perspective is the structural view of MatchPoint Snow, as content is structured in virtual workspaces
  • The content perspective is an aggregation of all content across all workspaces, based on FAST search
  • The people perspective shows connections to colleagues and their content

Besides, Snow offers a powerful context search as well as a number of dashboards to evaluate content and usage based on personal, team, management, governance and administrative criteria. As a matter of course, you can easily extend Snow with further functionality by the use of our modular Snowflake architecture.

The MatchPoint Snow Information Architecture

MatchPoint Snow organizes content in so-called workspaces, each workspace being a SharePoint site collection. Users who have the permission to create workspaces can do so using an intuitive workspace creation wizard. As a workspace owner, you can invite other people to work with you in your workspace. You can also govern your workspace according to global rules to make sure you respect your company's compliance policies. No help from IT is needed.

The MatchPoint Snow Main Portal is the top layer of the platform, aggregating all content from the workspaces into the above-mentioned perspectives. The MatchPoint Snow workspaces are in a different layer without hierarchies, which makes MatchPoint Snow highly scalable.

Between the main portal and the workspaces, Snow can be extended by the use of so-called Snowflakes, which are a combination out of a specific portal and a specific workspace template, together forming an application. Snowflakes are available from various MatchPoint partners. Your IT can integrate Snowflakes into your platform and provide them to you through the main portal, or they can even develop their own specific Snowflakes.

Information Security and Governance

MatchPoint Snow puts a focus on governance to keep your information secure and well managed. As a normal user consuming or working on content, you do not have to bother to take care of access permissions, metadata, compliance policies or lifecycle management. MatchPoint Snow is taking care of all this, making the use as easy and straightforward as possible.

In the background, MatchPoint Snow is constantly checking that all you do is according your companies guidelines and policies, and that your content will only be available to people you want to have access to it. A semantic governance layer based on metadata and a persona model used to define business roles is able to decide how content needs to be managed.

Thanks to this, MatchPoint Snow can provide a lot of self-service functionality that you as a user can use without help from IT. The only thing you need to know is your role and interests within your organization and the business context you are working in.
