Search Definition WebPart

The Search Definition Web Part allows users to generate a search condition that can be used by other Web Parts to aggregate content. Search conditions are essentially filters on properties like tags and terms or properties like the created/modified date, author/editor, file extensions etc.

Within a Search Definition Web Part, all properties that are available on the selected SearchDefinitionScope can be used for generating conditions. These filter-groups are specified within a separate configuration file SearchScopesConfiguration.xml. If enabled, users can also access and configure predefined search definitions which bundle a set of search conditions for quick access.

While the Search Definition Web Part can be used for generating search conditions, the actual data aggregation is done by a "consuming" web part, using a data provider.
